About Therapy

1963446685On the outside, you look confident. But…

On the inside, you’re struggling.

Overwhelmed and insecure, you doubt if you’ll ever secure the future you want.

All that anxiety bleeds into everything, including your relationships.

You’re disconnected from the life you deserve, and to make matters worse, how you got here feels like one big mystery.

You’ve come to the right place!

In therapy, we’ll explore your past to understand how those experiences impact your life in the present. We’ll carefully examine your behavior and relationship patterns, discerning why you do what you do.

You’ll learn all about what’s behind your thoughts, feelings, and actions. When you’re aware of what “makes you tick,” you’ll discover new options for living your best life.

I have several strategies for helping you identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts – the ones that keep you trapped in cycles of anxiety and depression.

We’ll always go at your pace, and we’ll modify our plans as you grow, change, and plan for the future.

I have your wellness in mind.

I will listen to your story with an open, curious, and attentive mind. No matter what you share with me, you’ll always have my unconditional acceptance and support. It’s all about creating a safe, trusting environment conducive to your healing and growth.

Along the way, I’ll be your guide, helping you discover the will within yourself to create the change you seek.

And it’s not all sitting and talking. I’ll also give you practical skills to apply to your day-to-day life.

You have better days ahead!

Therapy can empower you to take your life back and feel confident in who you are. That’s the first step to creating the life you deserve.

I’ve dedicated my career to understanding change, life transitions, and the human experience. Let me put that knowledge to work for you.

Let’s shine a light on your authentic self!

Hi, I’m Elaine!

Warm, collaborative, and empathetic…

That’s how others have described me… which works because that’s my approach to therapy!

I’m a therapist, but I’m a human being first. Trauma affects many of us, and I want to be here for you as you work through what’s been troubling you.

I use my humanity to empathically connect with you as we investigate and explore what makes you… YOU!

Some of my education and training…

I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York (LMHC).

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Nyack College and my master’s in mental health counseling from Hunter College in New York.

The unique modalities I offer require extensive post-graduate training.

I completed a psychoanalytic post-graduate program at the William Alanson White Institute and am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I’m also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR, Levels 1 and 2).

When I’m not doing therapy…

You’ll often find me enjoying a book over a cup of coffee. I’m usually reading something about psychology, personal development, or how to serve my clients better.

I enjoy working with my hands, doing creative things like practicing calligraphy, writing letters with wax seals, or creating and wrapping personalized items.

I love taking long walks, running, hiking, exercising, and keeping up with my health. If I can spend some time in nature while doing it, that’s all the better! I also spend some time on the dance floor. I practice tango and ballroom dancing every week.

And, of course, I’m always happy spending time with friends and family. We like traveling and getting to know new places.
